What is Wi-Fi Assist? Is it really worth to use?

#WiFiAssist is a new feature introduced by #iOS 9+. Apple states, that with Wi-Fi Assist, you can stay connected to the Internet even if you have a poor Wi-Fi connection: “you’ll stay connected to the Internet over #cellular when you have a poor Wi-Fi connection, you might use more cellular data. For most users, this should only be a small percentage higher than previous usage.” The reality is, that using Wi-Fi Assist will quickly eat up your #dataplan and it can lead to expensive excess data charges! Therefore, it is recommended to #disable this feature especially, if your monthly data usage allowance is small.

We have received reports of users getting 1000+$ bills because they unknowingly used 300+ #GB of data on their #phones expecting that it would be counted against their #office/home Wi-Fi.

How to disable Wi- Fi Assist?
This feature is enabled by default and can be disabled by:
Going to Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data. Then scroll down and tap the slider for Wi-Fi Assist. Slide the button left so that the green is no longer showing.
